Repeated issue with InDesign file corruption

Hello, first time poster here.
A client of ours that uses RaiDrive suddenly has got an issue multiple months ago where InDesign files keep getting corrupted. Yes, they do have the option to lock files that are used activated on every computer. RaiDrive is set up to communicate with a Synology NAS using WebDAV. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi, @jan

InDesign uses a slightly special LOCK file naming convention, which is not controlled by RaiDrive’s LOCK option.
Therefore, special handling is required, and I’m sending you a link to a patch version that addresses this issue.

Please ensure all users use the same patch version and check the LOCK option.
If another user is using the file, a “in-use” indicator will appear in InDesign.

Please let us know the results after testing.

Thank you kindly! Just in case: will upcoming updates come with the required patch included, or not? In other words, do I need to explicitly tell the employees NOT to update RaiDrive?

If the test results are positive, it will be included in the next official patch.
If the test results are negative, we will work with you to improve it.
If for some reason we cannot improve it, we will notify you in advance.

After installing the patched version, the issues immediately ceased existing.
Currently no new issues have arisen of any kind.
At first glance I’d say this build is ready to be included.
Once again, thank you kindly!

Thank you for sharing your findings.
This patch will be included in the next official release.
Please let us know if you encounter any issues or have any feedback.

Hello,

A new problem has arisen, and can be replicated semi-regularly: the presence of ONE LOCK-file causes other employees to not be able to open any other InDesign file, as if the script doesn’t pay attention to the exact wording of the LOCK file.

Jan

Hi, @jan

InDesign’s Lock file naming rules are complex, making handling them somewhat complex.
Because we don’t know the exact rules for Lock file naming, it’s practically impossible to handle all cases.
We’ll send you a slightly improved version.

Please avoid using long filenames.
When InDesign creates Lock filenames, long filenames are truncated to an appropriate length.
Therefore, a truncated filename could have the same Lock filename, and other files could be locked and rendered read-only.

If this version works properly, all users can use it.
Please let us know the results and we’ll incorporate them into the next official patch.

Thank you,

Hi, @jan

Have you tested the new patch version I sent you?

I’m waiting for your test results.

Hello,

Forgive me for the belated reply, There are indeed less issues with this updates as far as I can see, but they still happen from time to time, so still more than before whatever update Adobe pushed through which started causing these problems…

If there is a permanent fix, do please let us know

Best regards,

Jan

The Lock file generated by InDesign appears to be meaningless.
From what I’ve actually found on the Adobe forums, it seems like there’s no way to handle this in a generic way.

So, I tried a solution where RaiDrive itself generates a separate Lock file.
Please install the trial version from the link below and test it.

https://app.raidrive.com/download/raidrive.mount/nightlybuild/RaiDrive.Mount_2025.12.24.224_x64.msi

This version creates a .railock file in addition to the .idlk file that is created by default.
File locking is determined based on the .railock file.

Please let me know the results after using it.
