Hello @franz_stibli
I’m sorry for the delay in responding.
These are the answers for your questions.
It is mentioned that file locking is available, but only for Office programs. Does the file lock also work with other applications, such as CAD, 3D, or photo editing software?
The File Lock feature has been verified to work with Office programs and major Adobe products (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, AfterFx, DreamWeaver, illustrator). The RaiDrive Preview version also supports AutoCAD.
Can I use RaiDrive on macOS with emulation software?
It has been confirmed that RaiDrive can be used with Parallels.
Are there solutions available for teams working on both macOS and Windows?
The RaiDrive macOS version is currently under development. File Lock functionality with Parallels has not been tested yet, but it is expected to work if both use the same Office version and the File Lock option is enabled.
How exactly does the file locking feature work? Is it instant?
File Lock works by checking if a Lock file exists on the remote drive when an Office file is opened. This process may take a small amount of time depending on the characteristics of the remote drive and the network conditions.
If one team member opens a file, will other members see this in real time?
There is no immediate way to confirm if someone else has opened the file.
Is there any delay in the file locking process? If so, how long?
The time required for File Lock checking and creation depends on the network conditions but is generally within 1-2 seconds.
Does the system provide visual feedback to indicate that a file is currently being edited by someone else?
There are no methods or features provided to notify when another person edit a file.
If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Best regards,
