[March 18, 2020]

Dear everyone,

Since 2017 we’ve provided the RaiDrive Standard Edition for free anywhere to anybody and in July 2019 announced the Professional subscription. For now, in over 200 countries, about 100 thousand users per day are using RaiDrive. We deeply appreciate your kind interest, which is the topmost value to RaiDrive and all of us.

We hope that RaiDrive would be a pioneer to open a new era in the cloud storage world, and believe that this is the way to contribute to the world.

To invest more effort and energy for the future plan, we thought that what the writable feature of some storage needs to move to the Professional subscription is a reasonable and possible option. We know you may be surprised and sincerely expect your understanding. We promise more useful and innovative convenience.

RIP RaiDrive.

No sense in using it anymore when free tools exists. It’s a shame they became greedy.

I also agree with lusky3 there are currently other tools with lifetime licenses, the big problem is having to pay annually for each of the drives, you should put a fixed amount for these addons and annual amount so if we add all available addons we would spend the equivalent of $ 60.00 Yearly.

I have a paid subscription and wil end it and start using another tool. Because I find it greedy to start asking money for a tool that you said would be free for things like NAS. I recommended it to my customers and now I have to inform them again before 2 April?

Pay just to write to your NAS??? That’s disgusting.

Oh well. Nice while it lasts. Alternatives here we come!

Personally I’ve never liked subscription models. A once off charge is fine as I know what I am committed for. Problem with subscription is these will increase over time and between this and all other vendors it becomes a nightmare to know what is managed where.
Given the number of paid alternatives in the marketplace it now means that your compared against these on a value proposition. Sadly for many us this means moving onto a different cloud sync provider and once gone will be difficult to revert back.

I want you know a problem when you change Pro Plan that is: I feel you taking advantage of the disease situation to get more money by move NAS to Pro Plan.
So I also change “My Plan”.

can someone suggest some alternatives? I really like to keep the similar automatic mounted webdav of my NAS on multiple devices.

AirLiveDrive works. Currently testing this with WebDAV at the moment. So far so good. Raidrive’s been very slow lately anyway. Which is weird, since native Windows 10’s webdav and airlivedrive isn’t slow at all. Gonna test a bit more, then push airlivedrive throughout my group.

Everybody’s pissed off at my fb and telegram lol, and are jumping to airlivedrive. Who’s to say raidrive won’t change their mind in the immediate future and do this crap again?

We only use it for webdav and mayyyybe one machine with google drive. So yeah if they can/want to do this, I don’t think I want to trust them.

For me, it isn’t so much the alternative to other products, really want an alternative to subscription. Happy to pay a once off price with maintenance. While $2/month isn’t much, it is just another of string of subscription charges that all add up. It also has the possibility to increase over time. The other consideration is exchange rate. Currently against AUD, the exchange rate is poor and likely to keep going south, meaning it will cost me more on subscription, rather than a once off charge.

Great you are thinking of different business models as you need to remain solvent, just need to think that subscription is not the final paid model that works.

It’s nice that you listened to your community (kind of). If you offered something on a “Free” plan originally, moving it behind “Paid” is a dick move. At minimum, you should grandfather accounts who originally had the feature.

Although I said it before, Why would I want to subscribe to a subscription yearly, when I can get a Lifetime key from a competitor with the same cloud drives for a 1-time payment of $25 HALF THE PRICE of a 1-year RaiDrive plan?

You’re just pushing people away from your product.

This announcement would be canceled immediately.
